National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has discredited several renowned institutions in the country in accordance with the provisions for accreditation of higher education institutions.

Some of the institutions that have discredited are African Bible College, Blantyre International University, Exploits University, Skyway University, Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) and Columbia Commonwealth University.

According to the statement released on Thursday published in the Daily Times, NCHE has also accredited with condition some programmes at Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), Catholic University, DMI St John the Baptist and Nkhoma University.

NCHE has also revoked licences for at least seven universities in the country including the one that awarded doctorate degree to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika called African University of Guidance, Counseling and Youth Development (AUGCYD).

The University also recently awarded a doctorate degree to Patricia Kaliati, Minister of Civic Education, Culture and Community Development.
