Lingadzi police in Lilongwe has launched a manhunt for unknown criminals suspected to have stolen a motor vehicle Rav 4 registration number ZA 8161.
The vehicle is suspected to have been stolen on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in Lilongwe City Centre.
Publicist for Lingadzi police, Salomy Zgambo said that owner of the vehicle, Memory Njiwa, had driven the vehicle at around 14:00 hours from Likuni to City Centre, and had parked along the road at MCP headquarters where she attended MCP’s celebration following the verdict of presidential case on February 03, 2020 at Lilongwe High Court.
“When she wanted to return home around 17:00 hours, Memory could not see her car from where she had earlier parked. She then reported the matter at Sanctuary Police Unit where search for the said car started,” Zgambo said.
Aged 38, Memory Njiwa Mwale hails from Chipala Village, Traditional Authority Kalonga in Salima.
Lingadzi police has since appealled to the public who will come across motor vehicle Rav 4 metallic silver in colour with the said registration number to report to any police formation.
Police is also asking for car owners to always make sure there is always someone to look after their cars whenever they park at open places to avoid such incidents.
