Promise 4 Malawi, which consists of local teachers, will hold a fundraising event at St. Michael’s Mutual Club of Gibbstown on May 14.
The proceeds from the African-themed event will be used to send members of the Promise 4 Malawi group on a mission trip to Malawi with Urban Promise International this summer.
Promise 4 Malawi is a group comprised of local educators and business people. Leading the group are Katie Ettore and Jamie Hennigan, local teachers at The Camden Forward School (a Christian-based educational community, a school of Urban Promise Ministries to serve the children of Camden.)
Rounding out the group are Jessica Human, another local educator and Joe Hennigan, co-owner of Kphat Productions (a full service film and video production company in Swedesboro.) Hennigan will be documenting the group’s experiences in Malawi. The May 14 event in Gibbstown will include live music from local band, Five Times Famous, as well as the voices of The African Choir of UrbanPromise Ministries. They also will offer a catered buffet with beer, raffles, and a silent auction. Tickets are $40 per person, which can be purchased on the website and are tax deductible.
They are asking for area residents and businesses to donate items for the silent auction. More information on the event can be found on www.promise4malawi.com. Anyone wishing to make a donation of time, money or auction items can contact Katie Ettore and Jamie Hennigan.
