Malawi’s flagship football competition, the TNM Super League kicks-off the 2011-2012 season on June 4, Nyasa Times has learnt.

According to Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary, Elijah Kachikuwo, all teams have already been informed on this development.

“We have set June 4 as the date to kick-off this year’s season and we are optimistic that we will stick to our plan,” said Kachikuwo.

Kachikuwo also revealed that Sulom’s elections will take place on May 28 after the audit report has been completed probably next week.

PriceWater House Coopers —an auditing firm hired to look into Sulom’s disputed accounts—has said work on the accounts of 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons is yet to be finalised.

“Even teams have welcomed this idea that elections should be conducted on this date,” he said.

Meanwhile, Super league teams have intensified their preparations in readiness of the new season with players switching teams.
