BLANTYRE

At 15.45 it is reported that the New Building Society in Blantyre has been attacked by demonstrators. Similarly, a police tent has been burnt. The demonstrations have turned violent after the court vacated the injunction. This is because of anger. Bingu should not have interfered with these demonstrations. It is also reported that the Army has been deployed by government  in Lilongwe. Unfortunately all radios have been gagged and we are only listening to periodic hourly broadcasts. The fact that government has issue gagging orders to private broadcasting houses means it is feeling the impact of the demonstrations.
