Lutheran Hour Ministry Malawi (LHMM) expects to scale up number of people reached with ministry proclaim programs in partnership with Gibraltar School of United States of America in a Primary Education Project. The project intends to link Malawian children of Ngwenya Primary school of Lilongwe and children of Gibraltar School by exchanging learning experiences between them on line. LHM staff serving as coordinating organization will in collaboration with Teachers from Ngwenya Primary School use such tools as cameras for production of web videos, recording and sending children artifacts, songs and dances to fellow students of Gibraltar. Primarily exchanging will involve Bible stories in an effort to teach each other the Word of God and grow in faith.
Meanwhile the School of Gibraltar has on Sunday 9th October 2011 donated a laptop computer, two cameras, writing pens and US$ 280 towards the project. Presenting the donation, Mrs. Ann Knutson of Gibraltar School assured LHM staff that the project will be an ongoing intervention program targeting students in Grade 4f at Ngwenya School in Malawi. She said she has a passion to contribute to Malawian children education and is very happy that LHM is found helpful to that vision.
According to her children at Gibraltar school require gaining knowledge of other cultures to grow up good citizens as the two schools will be sharing different cultural and traditional experiences through this project. On other hand children of Ngwenya lead a hard school life. The school do not have electricity, school blocks cannot accommodate large population of children such that about half of them learn on open ground while seating on bear ground.
Mr. Victor Kwacheramwina, principal for Ngwenya School says scarcity of learning blocks has brought numerous teaching and learning difficulties. During rainy season students that learn outside blocks do not have classes up until the season is over.
In his remarks Mr. Mphatso Thole manager of LHM Malawi applauded the Gibraltar school for the initiative to help Malawian students Ngwenya school in particular. He assured Ann Knutson that LHM will work diligently in prayers and participation.
The Gibraltar school identified Ngwenya School as needy people after learning about Malawian school education from LHM Malawi staff.
