President Mwai Kibaki arrived in Malawi this evening for the burial of former President of Malawi the late Ngwazi Prof. Bingu wa Mutharika which will take place tomorrow.
The plane carrying President Kibaki and his entourage touched down at Chileka International Airport at 3.30pm local time.
President Kibaki will be among other Heads of State and government who will pay their last respect to the fallen leader in a ceremony that will also be attended by the late President`s successor, President Joyce Banda.
The late Bingu wa Mutharika suffered a cardiac arrest at State House Lilongwe on April 5, 2012 and was confirmed dead the same day.
The late Mutharika will be laid to rest at Mpumulo wa Bata Mausoleum in his Ndata farm in Thyolo district about 30km from Blantyre.
The President was received by senior Government officials of Malawi and Kenya`s High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi Ambassador Dr. Kipyego Cheluget.
