The Malawi government has lifted the export ban on Soya beans with immediate effect.

In a statement issued Friday, Minister of Trade John Bande says any person wishing to export the commodity should obtain a license from the ministry.

Export ban lifted

“Yes I can confirm that the export ban has been lifted,” said Bande.

The Mutharika administration banned the export after noting that most traders were smuggling the crop.

Meanwhile farmers union president Felix Jumbe has applauded the move saying it bring the much needed forex in the country.
