The Employers Consultative Association of Malawi-ECAM says it has asked some of its members, to increase wages of their employees.

ECAM’s Executive director Mr Odridge Khunga said this in an interview with FM 101 power as he was responding to what Malawi Congress of Trade Union -MCTU said as the country was commemorating World Labour Day on Tuesday.

Among the less paid people in Malawi

MCTU said employees need better working conditions and their wages increased as prices of many goods have been increased.

Meanwhile Mr Khunga has warned employees not to demand a lot of money from their employers as this may lead to closure of some companies or employees face redundancies.
