Malawi President Joyce Banda on Saturday flew to Mozambique to hold talks with her counterpart Armando Guebuza in a continued drive to improve Malawi’s bilateral relationships with other countries.

Off to Mozambique

The relationship between Lilongwe and Maputo soured in the recent past after late President Bingu wa Mutharika tried to impose the Shire Zambezi waterway project on President Guebuza.

But after the demise of President Mutharika, Mozambique donated various food items and invited new president Joyce Banda to visit him.

It is highly expected that the two leaders will discuss economic ties with Malawi which is currently facing numerous economic challenges while Mozambique is undergoing an economic growth.

During the visit, President Banda is also expected to meet Malawians living in Maputo.
