The Southern African Development Community (SADC) organ on defence and security is set to meet on Thursday to review the situation in Zimbabwe ahead of a heads of state and government summit due at the weekend.

State media on Wednesday said SADC had made a last minute decision to invite all parties in the coalition government to the meeting to be held in Angola’s capital Luanda.

The meeting also known as ‘The Troika’ is expected to review the situation in Madagascar as well.

Speaking on Tuesday, Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the PM had to cut short his one-week China tour in order to attend the meeting.
