Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture is planning to lease out the former French cultural center in Blantyre to a private company.

The minister responsible Daniel Liwimbi said the government has no plans to run the center when the repair works are completed.

The government purchased the entertainment center following calls from arts associations in the country after the French government closed it down and put it up for sale.

The facility remains out of service months after the purchase was finalised because rehabilitation works at the center are currently underway.

Facilities at the center were heavily vandalized by robbers.
