After many years in waiting, Zodiak Broadcasting Station – ZBS – has finally been awarded a license to operate a television station.
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority – MACRA – has awarded the TV license to ZBS along with others issued to many TV and radio operators.
MACRA communications manager Mr. Zadziko Makhambo confirmed to ZBS that the board of the communications regulator has agreed today, July 25, to award licenses to various players in the broadcasting industry.
“I can confirm that we have awarded 15 television and radio licenses on Wednesday,” disclosed Mr. Mankhambo.
“We are currently discussing other logistical arrangements, and after gazzeting the licenses, an official announcement will be made on the awarding of the licenses,’’ added Mr. Mankhambo.
Other TV license awardees include, Times Group, Good News, Beta, Chancellor College Community, Adventist and Timveni, while CCAP Blantyre, Livingstonia and Nkhoma Synods, Matindi, Bua, Mwandama Community and Chancellor College Community have received radio licenses.
