The process of conducting by-elections in Mzimba South West and Mzimba Central constituencies is expected to be launched on Wednesday by Officials of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Mzimba Central Constituency fell vacant following the death of Donton Mkandawire while Mzimba South West Constituency became vacant following the ascendance of Khumbo Kachali to the office of the Vice President.

A statement from the commission states that the launch in the two constituencies will be held simultaneously.

It says during the launch, the commission will outline the calendar overview for the by-elections and explain the procedures to be followed during various stages of the electoral process.

The stakeholders expected to attend the event are from the political parties, civil society organizations, aspiring parliamentary candidates, faith leaders, traditional leaders and the media.

The launch in Mzimba South West Constituency will be held at Edingeni Teacher Development Centre while in Mzimba Central will be held at Kapiri TDC.
