President Joyce Banda’s People’s Party is being hit by reports of serious divisions a few weeks before the ruling party’s first ever national convention slated for the 27th this month.

PP officials however are downplaying the reports arguing there is no in fighting.

According to the reports, the divisions are a result of individual camps which have been created within the party by a number of officials in their bid to gunner personal support ahead of the indaba.

According to the PP all positions including the Presidency will be up for contention at the convention.

Inside sources have told capital Radio that the main tussle is on the position of vice president where most top officials among them Brown Mpinganjira, Cassim Chilumpha, Uladi Mussa, Sidik Mia and Clement Stambuli are vying for.

There was no immediate comment from the above officials on these claims.
