Pupils who sat for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examinations earlier this year are still waiting to see their results as MANEB remains tight lipped on when the results will be out.

Parents and guardians of these children are also waiting to know the results of their young ones.

We find this development a great disservice to the nation.

MANEB is 25 years old after being formed in 1987. Up to this very day, it fails to publish in advance the dates when school results will be released.

We find MANEB failure to provide a schedule for release of results and adhering to it as an example of gross inefficiency in leadership and management at the examination board.

An institution like MANEB should publish in advance when results will be released for planning purposes, by schools, parents, etc.

Mediocrity, in general had been tolerated during Bingu wa Mutharika reign and during the reign of his predecessor Bakili Muluzi.

But now is the opportune time to greatly improve on such record and service and we call upon MANEB to provide a schedule for its examinations.

The schedule should provide when the examinations will be taken and when they will be released and how they will be released. Anything short is unacceptable.
