The Malawi Congress Party MCP has said it will not be comfortable working with Secretary General Dr. Christopher Daza whose suspension from the party was saved by the courts last Friday.

Director of Research in the Party Mr. Lingson Belekanyama told the media it is yet to be seen how Dr. Daza will fit in the equation.

“We will not be comfortable to work with Daza. What he should do I think he should humble himself in the face of the leadership and then reconcile,” said Belekanyama.

Last Friday after a long legal battle, the high court in Lilongwe restrained the party from suspending Dr. Daza from the party.

MCP suspended Daza from the party accusing him of forging signatures of district party chairpersons to force the party to call for a convention.

However Daza remains resilient in calling for a convention this year.

“As a party we must go to the convention. And as Secretary General I will make sure that the party goes to the convention,” said Daza after getting the court relief.

But Mr. Belekanyama told Zodiak Online that a convention can only be called by the president of the party, Mr. John Tembo not the Secretary General.
