Motorists are beginning to panic in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe following the erratic fuel supplies in most pump stations the city.

The shortage, which started on Sunday worsened yesterday with only two service stations having fuel.

Long queues of vehicles form at pump stations in Lilongwe as desperate motorists tried to refuel as the fuel shortage resurfaces.

Two weeks ago, there was a shortage of the same in the city of Mzuzu, north of Malawi.

Energy authorities say they want to find out from the fuel importers on the cause of the shortage in the capital city.

Bingu wa Mutharika will be remembered for bringing Malawi to a standstill with motorists sleeping at service stations waiting for fuel.

Supply of fuel has greatly improved since Joyce Banda took over and this new shortage is a surprise.
