More tourists are flocking to Majete Game Reserve in Chikhwawa to see the lions that were imported from South Africa, a move that is likely to improve foreign exchange earnings in the country.

Project Officer of the Game Reserve, Patricio Ndazera told the Malawi News Agency that there is a lot of excitement from both local and foreign visitors despite the hot weather in the lower shire.

Ndazera said the imported lions did not take long to adapt to the local weather and they are mixing well with other lions at the game reserve.

He said these lions will have a multiplier benefit to the country’s economic growth.

Malawi Government, under the Ministry of Tourism, imported the lions from South Africa mid August, this year, to boost tourism attraction in the country.
