Wanderers has become the first team to reach the finals of the Standard Bank cup after seeing off rivals Big Bullets in a game played in Lilongwe.

What was rather a boring game in the first half coupled with the low turn out of fans due to the high entry, saw the game ending 4-3 in the penalty shoot out.

Bullets coach Edington Ng’onamo starting with Gaba Mhango, Divason Mlozi, Fischer Kondowe and Chimango Kayira, wasted many chances in the opening minutes that could have earned them an early lead.

However Manoma, had a quick come back on the fifth minute when Cuthbert Sineta’s head was cleared on the goal line by Kayira.

What folowed later was a physical game, not all that interesting leaving the fews fans if Malawi coaches are good in physical training.

There were stunning perfomances by Mhango, Joseph Kamwendo and Chiku Kanyenda while Kondowe still lacks his ussual taste.

That aside, Bullets supporters danced in the 37th minute when Mlozi connected Kondowe’s head in the Wanderes net.

It was a goal that gave Bullets a lead at half time.

In the second half, both coaches made changes but it was Wanderers decisions that paid.

Innocent Dzimbiri took chance of the lapse in the Bullets defence whe he set Sineta who taped through the goalkeeper Owen Chaima.

In the penalty shoot out, Bullets had two of their kicks saved by Richard Chipula while Nomads had Gerald Phiri Jnr penalty saved.Nomads awaits tomorrow’s results between Civo United and Silver Strikers for their opponents in the final.
