President Joyce Banda has assured people of Mzimba that her administration will in the next few months conduct a ground breaking ceremony of the construction of Jenda – Edingeni road which many people in the district say had been neglected by the previous regime.

“It is my wish that within six months I should come and lay the foundation stone for the construction of this road,” the President said.

The President said government has in its economic recovery plan identified five key sectors of energy, mining, tourism, agriculture and Infrastructure development that will help to revitalize the country’s ailing economy.

“Very soon you will see various projects being implemented under these five sectors and one of the projects is the construction of Jenda-Edingeni road,” she emphasized.

People in Mzimba claimed the Mutharika administration abandoned putting tarmac on the Jenda-Edingeni road after vice president Khumbo Kachali was dismissed from the Democratic Progressive Party along with president Banda.

Banda dismissed critics who would want to make people believe that she was responsible for the current economic hardships, saying she inherited a government which was already in shambles and she is doing everything possible to bring the economy on track.
