Some disgruntled members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) have announced the formation of a new political party a week after the holding of a convention by another faction of the party.

Reports indicate that Friday Jumbe, who until the day of the UDF convention was leading the other faction as its president, is the interim president of the new party.

The name of the Party awaits the approval of the registrar of political parties.

Sources who told Capital Radio on a point of anonymity, said the group that comprised Sam Mpasu, Joseph Kubwalo, George Ntafu and Jumbe himself, is frustrated with their failure to get reunited with the other faction, and cannot continue operating under the UDF.

This according to political commentators is the best thing the group could do, after being pushed out of the UDF.

According to the sources, the name and the composition of the party‘s interim committee are expected to be announced at the launch.
