President Joyce Banda has fired Cassim Chilumpha from the cabinet announced yesterday. Chilumpha was the minister for energy and mining.

She has also brought in former DPP guru Goodal Gondwe to take on Atupele Muluzi’s former ministry Economic Development and Planning.

The Vice president Khumbo Kachali has also been stripped off his Health portfolio, probably due to the Mponela beds fiasco. The health ministry now goes to Catherine Hara.

Most ministers have retained their posts, but Daniel Liwimbi has lost his post at the Ministry of Tourism.
