Malawi’s former ruling Democratic Progressive Party says it will need K60 million to bankroll its national convention in April 2013, Chairperson for the organizing committee Mr. Nicholas Dausi has said.

“We will open a bank account next month so that people can be depositing their contributions,” said Dausi.

He further said preparations for the convention will continue after the festivities.

On nominations he said the party is expected to meet next year to set a date when collection of nomination forms will start.

The convention is expected to elect the party’s presidential candidate for 2014 tripartite elections and to fill other positions in the party.
