The organizers of the demonstrations have dismissed claims made by the Rastafarian community that they were offered four hundred thousand kwacha to participate in the protests.

Spokesperson of the demo organizing committee Kingsley Mabalani told the media that the allegations are false saying they do not have money to offer to any organization or an individual for the protests.

“All people who will participate in the demos are motivated by the sufferings they have been subject to” said Mabalani.

But leader of the Rasta Farai for Unity Ras Judah I insisted that they were approached by the demo organizers.

“They met our colleagues in Blantyre and persuaded them to join the planned demos”

“At first, they promised three hundred sixty five thousand kwacha, and later changed to four hundred thousand kwacha but we turned down the offer” said Ras Judah.

“I think it is not proper for CAMA to be using money to persuade people if they are indeed genuine with the reasons that are forcing them to the streets, otherwise this shows there is politics attached” concluded Judah I.
