Former Flames Coach Kinnah Phiri has said it is time to offer his services elsewhere, saying Malawi doesn’t need his services anymore.

His comment follows mounting speculation that Kinnah is likely to return to South Africa where he is regarded as one of the best coaches.

“I have done my part and its time that we see others do it. I have served Malawi but since Malawi doesn’t want me, I will serve others,” he said defiantly.

He failed to clarify further on the point when he was asked explain his point.

Kinnah did not disclose whether he will continue with his profession as a local soccer mentor or not.

He further said this was his last interview to the local media.

“I have stopped giving interviews as I’m no longer the coach of the team, just wait for the new coach so that you can interview him,” he said.

Football Association of Malawi Saturday night announced the firing of Coach Kinnah Phiri.

“[We] would like to announce that at its emergency executive meeting held on 12th January 2013, a decision was taken to relieve the national coach and the entire technical panel of its duties with immediate effect owing to a poor run of results of the Malawi National Team,” reads the statement signed by FAM General Secretary Sugzo Nyirenda.

The statement further said plans will be taken to fill the vacant positions that have been created in the shortest time possible mindful that the Malawi National Team will need to thoroughly prepare for the World Cup whose next assignment is in March against Namibia.
