Malawi’s veteran football coach Davie Mpesi died on Wednesday in a road accident in Rumphi, southern part of Malawi.
The police confirmed the death of the veteran coach, saying two of his friends traveling in the same vehicle escaped unhurt.
They said Mpesi and his colleagues were traveling to Chitipa for official duties.
“He was rushed to Mzuzu hospital after sustaining head injuries where he died a few hours upon arrival,” said a police spokesperson.
Until his death on Wednesday, Mpesi was coaching Chikhwawa United a first division league side apart from doing his businesses.
He has however coached almost all of the best Super League teams in Malawi including Big Bullets, Silver Strikers, ESCOM, and Civo United.
