The 2014 Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential hopeful Prof Peter Mutharika was barred to address the party followers at the Kamuzu International Airport.

Mutharika was forced to stay in the VIP lounge for some minutes as party officials were reasoning with the huge crowd that gathered there.

DPP spokesperson Nicholas Dausi told the journalist that the airport security personnel got communication that Mutharika should not address the faithfuls at the premises.

“As a party we made all the arrangements that the president should address the people at the airport min-stadium but we were shocked when the security said they got communication from the Inspector General that there should not be any address,” said Dausi
