United Democratic Front President Atupele Muluzi says unless Malawi elects leaders who have the needs of Malawians at heart the country will remain poor.

According to Mr. Muluzi, greedy politicians are responsible for the current economic mess that the southern African country is experiencing.

The UDF president made the remarks during a political rally he addressed at Area 25 in Lilongwe.

In Kasungu, the Democratic Progressive Party officials were forced to change the venue of their political rally on Sunday following a misunderstanding with the ruling People’s Party.

Both parties were scheduled to hold party functions at Chipanga Primary school ground Sunday.

People’s Party official and member of parliament for Kasungu central, Mr. Ken Kandodo who is also the minister of defense used the pitch for a football match while DPP officials led by their guest of honor Mrs Patricia Kaliati moved their meeting to Chipanga trading center.

The district multiparty liaison committee was yet to comment on the Sunday venue clash between the two parties.
