Over a 100 people took part in the Big Brother Africa (BBA) Season 8 auditions that started on Monday and ended on Wednesday at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.

MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda said they would have loved to audition more people but they were satisfied with the figure.

“We had close to 100 people auditioning which is a good number. Now we will be waiting for the housemate who will represent Malawi,” said Nyirenda.

From Malawi, the auditioning team from Endemol and M-Net, headed to Zambia.

Some of the people who auditioned included renowned artists, socialites and radio personalities.

The auditions this time around took place in Lilongwe after running in Blantyre in the previous seasons and according to Nyirenda, the Capital City had more participants compared to Blantyre and Mzuzu.

Malawi has been participating in the reality show since its inception but it is yet to produce a winner.

Last year in the BBA Stargame the country was represented by cousins Wati and Nafe. However, Nafe got an early boot with Wati going all the way to the final.

Malawi is among the 14 countries participating which will see the winner walking away with US$300,000.
