This October, Earthship Biotecture will be joined by a team of student soldiers to build an Earthship flower design community center in Malawi, Africa. We are working together with a local NGO, Empower Malawi, to gather people and funds to spread the word and build two rooms (petals) over the course of ten days. The dates of this project are October 7th-16th, 2013.

The project, Kapita Earthship Community Centre, is to become a sustainable development epicenter for 38 villages and over 5,000 rural people in South East Mzimba district in Malawi. The Kapita Earthship Community Centre is to house a community bank, a mini library, a dispensary, offices and a food bank.

The people living in remotest of Malawi have been building houses from rammed earth and will be learning more about the sustainable and radical method of building with Earthship Biotecture. This will be the first of its kind in Malawi and the people of Kapita will host this learning process and camp for other locals and internationals willing to learn.

To help the people realize their dream of building an Earthship, Empower Malawi has partnered with Earthship Biotecture to help design a most versatile and economical sustainable structure. An Earthship Biotecture crew will fly into Malawi to teach the people and together build a ‘flower design’ Earthship community center.

We are currently looking for volunteers to join us for this project. All tuition fees go toward the project itself and the materials needed.
