A strike by local United Nations staff in the country has been called off after authorities agreed to increase salaries by 30 percent.
An insider told the media that the authorities have also agreed that they will be giving the local staff 2.3 percent as a monthly bonus until the end of 2013.
Local UN staff has been on strike for four days pressing their authorities to increase their salaries by 90 percent and also peg their salaries against US dollar.
The increase comes besides earlier threats by UNDP acting resident representative, Ms. Naomi Kitahara that the body will terminate contracts of local staff should they continue with the strike.
