Malawians based in England’s Manchester city are all set for the official launch of their association to be graced by the High Commissioner, Benard Sande on Saturday, April 27.

According to the group’s publicity secretary, Kingsley Ngumuya, Malawi Manchester Association (MMA)  is formed on the standing of four main objectives which are; the getting together of Malawians for social events; Helping Malawians in times of need; Engage in charity activities so that they can help money towards different situations in Malawi such as disasters, education and health.

The Association also aims to be a resource centre for the promotion of Malawi culture to people of other nationalities in the city.

“We are inviting all Malawians in the city and around to come. The event is taking place at CEDAR MOUNT HIGH SCHOOL, 50 Wembley Road, Gorton, Manchester M18 7DT,” reads a statement from MMA.

Among the activities lined up for the day of the launch are performances by some Malawian acts as well as a dance at the end of the event.

Apart from Malawi’s High Commissioner, the event is expected to attract notable guests and speakers who include MP for the area and former shadow foreign secretary, Sir Gerald Kaufman and the Lord Mayor for the City of Manchester

Trustees and the executive of the association will also be introduced on the day.
