Malawi’s boxing great Isaac Chilemba arrived in UK on Saturday from US for his WBC light-heavyweight title eliminator against Briton’s Tony Bellew on May 25 at O2 Arena in London.
Chilemba’s longtime trainer, Andson Kazembe. who is still part of the Golden Boy’s backroom staff, said he had no more details about where he is training.
“He has arrived in UK. He arrived yesterday [Saturday] but more details concerning where he is training, his sparring partner will follow later,” Kazembe said.
Chilemba dates Bellew after a controversial draw on May 25 in which the Malawian is widely believed to have been robbed of victory although his opponent also claims that he did enough to win.
In a related development, MultiChoice Malawi will give local fans in Lilongwe a chance to watch the bout live on big screen on SuperSport.
But MultiChoice Marketing Manager Chimwemwe Nyirenda said on Sunday they would decide on the place later.
Boxing fans missed out the first bout because it was not covered on Supersport as it has been the case with his previous bouts in which MultiChoice Malawi was also able to bring it on big screen in selected places of Blantyre City.
Chilemba, said earlier his management team had succeeded to have the World Boxing Council light heavyweight eliminator fight shown on both HBO and Supersport.
“The fight will be live on HBO and Supersport,” said the South Africa based Malawi pugilist.
The first fight drew reactions from both camps as they felt to have been robbed of victory.
Bellew was given the bout 116-115 by judge Eddie Paapoe while Chilemba Christophe Fernandez scored 116-112 in his favour.
The third judge, Fabian Guggenheim, had it even at 114-114 at the end of the 12 rounds contest held at Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom.
Chilemba, 25, has won 20 fights including nine knockouts, one loss and two draws while Bellew, 30, has 19 wins including 12 knockouts, lost once and drawn once.
