A 76 year-old man in Ntchisi has committed suicide after being found guilty in a defilement case.
According to Ntchisi Police Public relations officer Gladson M’bumpha, the deceased was found dead in his Khwela village home after hanging himself with a mosquito net over the weekend.
Police investigations revealed that the deceased was on court bail for the offence of defilement and the judgement was set for Wednesday, June 5.
M’bumpha in a statement said a postmortem conducted at Ntchisi District Hospital revealed that the cause of death was “suffocation secondary to strangulation and no foul play was suspected.”
