Business is at stand still in Limbe as vendors move door to door closing foreign owned shops.
This comes as workers working in these shops are demanding for salary increment.
Their colleagues in Lilongwe and Mzuzu also staged a strike recently forcing their employees to raise their salaries to K18 600 as a minimum wage.
Later today
There is still confusion and tension In Limbe, where business had come to a standstill this morning, following an industrial action by people working in shops owned by Chinese and Malawians of Asian origin over low wages.
Traffic was disrupted, and shops remain closed as the two parties are yet to come to an agreement.
The workers have since vowed to prolong their industrial action if demands to have their wages increased are not met by the end of today.
