A local historian has rated the leadership of the country’s first head of state late Hastings Kamuzu Banda as the most outstanding compared to the rest.
The rating comes as the country holds its 49th independence celebrations this coming weekend.
According to the historian, Puleni Chilikunzako, despite his dictatorial principles, Kamuzu was a man of vision throughout his regime.
Chilikunzako however points out that former Presidents; Bakili Muluzi and late Bingu wa Mutharika were industrious during their first terms but messed up things during in the second.
He also acknowledges what he describes as tangible successes in President Joyce Banda’s regime since she assumed office in April last year. – Capital Radio Malawi
