President Joyce Banda has fired three senior cabinet ministers from her cabinet.
According to a statement from the spokesperson in the office of the president and cabinet, Arthur Chipenda, the casualties are Peter Mwanza, Jennipher Chilunga Ndaferankhande and Richie Muheya.
New faces in the cabinet include Brown Mpinganjira who is now the minister of water development and irrigation, replacing Muheya.
James Munthali is another new face in the cabinet, who has replaced Mwanza as the agriculture minister.
Agness Chatipwa has been appointed as the deputy minister of health, replacing Halima Daudi who has been promoted to a full minister of the environment and climate change, previously served by Ndaferankhande.
