Police in Blantyre are keeping a 25 year-old man suspected of stealing two HP Laptop computers valued at K900,000 belonging to the High Court of Malawi in Blantyre and being found with them.
He is expected to appear before Blantyre Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 16 to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony and being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen.
A statement from Assistant Public Relations Officer Lameck Thembachako also explains how a security guard at the High Court saw the suspect open the office where the laptops where stolen using a key but he was not suspicious and thought he was a staff member since he was a familiar face there.
The suspect is a friend of the owner of the laptops and he used to visit his office frequently. – The daily times
