Authorities at Capital hill have alleged that some commercial banks are involved in a forgery syndicate that has led to millions of kwacha’s being lost through forged government cheques.
Currently, the government is running a press statement, advising the public and financial institutions on forged cheques that are on the loose in the government’s cheque issuing system.
Ministry of Finance spokesperson, Nations Msowoya says that according to the ongoing investigations, it seems there is a big collaboration by different individuals.
Msowoya says for instance the cheques that have lived beyond time and are recommended for destruction are the ones that are being used in forgery.
