The Malawi national Football team arrived well in Rwanda for their friendly match against Rwanda on Wednesday August 14, 2013.
The team of local based players arrived at around 2 am on Monday 12th August in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital and are being accommodated at Sports View Hotel.
The rest of the foreign based players were expected to arrive on Monday.
The game will be played at National Stadium at 4 PM Malawi local time
The team suffered a further setback on Monday with the withdraw of Robert Ng’ambi from the team.
According to his team Platinum Stars, the player could not travel as his passport is with Immigration officials as he is applying for a permanent residence permit.
Ng’ambi has stayed in South Africa for eight years now since joining Black Leopards in 2005 and qualifies to get a permanent permit that will allow him to be registered as a local in the PSL.
Already the team has had a few withdraws with captain Joseph Kamwendo, Chiukepo Msowoya, Essau Kanyenda and Foster Namwela all pulling out due to different reasons.
Coach Tom Saintfiet said the development is a setback but said he has good players to win against Rwanda.
“The main aim of this game was for me to assess the foreign based players and already five of them have pulled out so it is really setback. But we still have a good squad that will help us get the results in Rwanda,” he said.
