Reports indicate that a group of concerned citizens are preparing to hold demonstrations against the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) on the 27th of this month.

According to the reports, the demonstrations are aimed at forcing it to open up its airwaves to the general populace in the run up to the 2014 tripartite elections.

This comes hot on the heels of the call by the chair of the Malawi Electoral Commission, Justice Maxon Mbendera, who pleaded with MBC to open up its airwaves to all political parties in the land.

The sad development in the nation has been that the MBC, a public broadcaster, has been used by the parties in power for their own selfish gains.
