Former ruling party, United Democratic Front (UDF) is on the verge of disintegrating over the issue of allowances, reports indicate.

According to the reports, some members of the National Executive of the party feel betrayed by the decision of the party’s general secretary, Kandi Padambo, to suspend allowances given to some members of the executive citing financial constraints as one of the reasons.

However, this has not gone down well with some members of the Executive who have used the decision against Padambo to claim that he is making decisions unilaterally.

Some of the members that have stood up to Padambo’s decision include his deputy Gerald Mponda who has not only accused Padambo of hijacking decision making in the party but also sidelining him in the making of party decisions as he is not invited to meetings.

Mponda has further hit back at Padambo for being a newcomer in the party yet wants to pass over the heads of old guards like him.

John Chikakwiya and the Party’s adminstrative secretary, Ian Kanyuka, are also on the side of Mponda who has so far written his superior.
