The reformed Malawi Police Service on Friday shot to death two protesters in the Lower Shire district of Nsanje.
The two were amongst a group of protesters who were protesting the Police handling of a murder suspect and subsequently baying for his blood.
As the situation got tense, the reformed police ended up using live ammunition and thereby claiming two lives.
Dr. Vincent Moyo of Trinity hospital in the district confirmed the death of the two from gun-shot wounds.
