Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe has been closed, reports indicate.

Staff at the district and referral hospital in the Capital where the former head of state, Bingu wa Mutharika, was rushed to when he suffered a cardiac arrest have gone on a strike and have decided to withdraw their labour.

The staff at the hospital are yet to receive their September salaries. This has been attributed to a shut down of the IFMS payment system at the Capitol Hill after it was discovered to have had irregularities that saw some junior civil servants becoming overnight millionaires.

Meanwhile, patients have been sent back from the central hospital.

This being a breaking news, we will keep you updated.
