The Football Association of Malawi and the Super League of Malawi have banned teams from using the Kamuzu stadium for domestic matches. The decision has come after rioting fans yesterday descended into chaos following a draw between Evirom FC and Kamuzu Barracks.
The decision by the two soccer governing bodies in the land has raised more questions than answers with people wondering if it really was necessary for the bodies to ban all the teams when the problems were actually with two teams.
“They should have just punished the two teams and not all the teams,” complained one local soccer follower.
On Sunday, chaos descended on Kamuzu stadium following what Evirom believes was unprofessional officiating that was meant at supporting their opponents. Police had to use teargas to disperse the crowd.
