President Joyce Banda yesterday met with opposition political party representatives at the New state house in Lilongwe.
A statement from the President through her official Facebook page indicates that the President met the opposition representatives to brief them on the government efforts to reach at the deepest bottom of rampant corruption that had been entrenched in the public sector which had come to the fore following the shooting of budget Director in the Ministry of finance, Mr. Paul Mphwiyo.
According to the statement, the President briefed the members on how her government intends to arrest the pilferage of cash at the Capitol hill and how it intends to punish those who will be found guilty in connection with the same.
The President further disclosed to them how all the stakeholders involved which include the Police, ACB and Financial Intelliegence Unit have been asked to work with concerted effort in busting out the corruption that has been entrenched at the Capitol hill.
There was no immediate reaction from the opposition, however.
President Banda has accused the opposition of as well being involved in the Capitol hill looting. Her remarks have mostly been directed to the opposition DPP whose fallen leader and brother to their current leader, Bingu wa Mutharika, is alleged to have died worth MK 61 billion.
