The ten year old plus some months peace deal that maintained the stability of Malawi’s neighbour, Mozambique, has collapsed – the BBC has reported.
According to the BBC, the former rebels that terrorised Mozambique and brought an influx of refugees to Malawi, Renamo, have announced the falling of the 1992 signed peace deal over Mozambique after government forces attacked and took over their bases on Monday, October 21.
The sad development will mean that many Malawians who have resorted to going to South Africa will have problems to go to the country for they pass through Mozambique. The problem of refugees might also resurface in the case of any eventuality.
