Oswald Lutepo, an Executive of the ruling Peoples’ Party who is also one of the people suspected to have hugely defrauded the Malawian population in the Cash-gate scandal, is being shielded.

Information gathered indicates that Oswald Lutepo whom information from IFMIS servers has implicated and has joined a team of people being investigated or that have warrant of arrests hovering over their heads is yet to be arrested and is not in Malawi.

Meanwhile, rumours that FaceofMalawi could not verify independently indicate that the much sought after man is in China or was last seen heading towards there.

Speaking to the press last week, Deputy Inspector General of Police Nelson Bophani indicated that the Malawi police had issued a note to the international police, Interpol, that they should have Lutepo arrested wherever he is.

However, a visit to the Interpol website in the meantime has no details of Oswald Lutepo as a fugitive, a development that has raised fears across the populace as it is suspected that Lutepo is being shielded since he is one of the people with influence in the ruling party, and apparently, the ruling party might have been a beneficiary of his loot.
