Kamuzu Central Hospital staff have downed tools at the hospital in an attempt to force Deputy Minister of local government, Godfrey Kamanya, to issue an apology after he courted them the wrong way Yesterday.

Staff at the hospital on Tuesday took their grievances to the house of Parliament as they say that they are being underfunded which has resulted into them facing a crisis of a shortage of drugs.

However, speaking yesterday in Phalombe where President Joyce Banda was elevating Traditional Authority Chikopa into a senior chief, the Deputy Minister of local government said that there is no crisis at the hospital and labeled as DPP functionaries those who went to Parliament to deliver the petition.

The staff of the hospital were apparently irked by the Minister’s response and demanded his immediate apology. The Minister, however, is to yet issue that apology and in waiting for that apology the staff at the hospital have downed their tools indefinitely.

As we published, unverified reports indicated that the Minister was going to the hospital to meet the angry staff.
